Greetings Greenon Families,
I am Shannon Estes, and I have been with Greenon Local Schools for 24 years. I began my teaching career at Enon Elementary, teaching first grade. During this time, I developed a strong passion for supporting struggling readers. This led me to become a Title One Reading Specialist at Greenon for the next 10 years. Seeking to have a broader impact within the district, I embraced the role of a Literacy Coach. And now, as the Director of Special Education, I have the wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Greenon's most deserving students.
Dedicated to being a lifelong learner, I obtained my doctoral degree in 2021 from The University of Findlay. My dissertation focused on the teacher-student relationship's impact on a struggling reader's confidence, motivation, and effort in the classroom. As a result of this study, I am determined to emphasize to educators the crucial role their relationship plays in shaping their students' academic journey.
When I am not working, you will likely find me cheering on one of the many athletes in my family. My husband and I are the real-life Brady Bunch, raising six children aged 16 to 30. My oldest bonus daughter has blessed our family with a precious girl and is expecting a son in March.
I strive to expand opportunities for all students and foster an inclusive culture built on understanding, compassion, and respect. My goal is to help students and their families reach their goals. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at (937) 864-7348 x1527 or email me.
Sincerely,
Shannon Estes
