Ohio Gifted Definition

Children in grades kindergarten through 12 may be identified as gifted in Ohio when they perform at remarkably high levels of accomplishment in comparison with other children of the same age, experience, and environment, as described in the Ohio Revised Code and in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-51-15. A gifted child may exhibit one or more of these abilities: superior cognitive ability; specific academic ability in mathematics, reading, writing, or a combination of those skills, science, and/or social studies; creative thinking ability; and/or visual or performing arts ability.

A Message from our Gifted Intervention Specialist

Hello Greenon Community,

My name is Angela Bowerman, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the Gifted Intervention Specialist (GIS) for our district. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master’s degree in Gifted Education, and I am deeply passionate about working with gifted learners. It’s an honor to join this exceptional community and contribute to the success of our amazing students.

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to collaborate with incredible educators, and I am truly excited to work alongside the dedicated staff here at Greenon. Helping students reach their full potential has always been my calling, and I look forward to providing engaging opportunities that challenge and inspire our gifted learners. Together, we can create a supportive and enriching environment that fosters growth and creativity.

Thank you for welcoming me so warmly. I am sincerely grateful to be part of such a wonderful district and community. I look forward to building strong connections with students, families, and colleagues as we work together to make a positive impact. Here’s to exciting years ahead!
