Project Update - June, 2023
Phases 1 and 2 of the Enon-Xenia Road project have been completed. The road is now open to traffic south of Rebert Pike.
June 5 to August 11 - To take advantage of Greenon’s summer break and to increase safety during the storm sewer work, the County Engineer will allow the contractor to close the road starting June 5 between Rebert Pike and Oak Hill Drive. A detour will be posted.
Phase 3
After August 11 -The contractor will be restricted to the west side of the roadway only while opening the east side of the road for northbound traffic. Southbound traffic will be detoured. The contractor will continue work on the storm sewer, reconstruct the west side of the roadway, and replace the sidewalk and drive approaches.
Phase 4 - The contractor will be restricted to the east side of the roadway only while maintaining the west side of the road for northbound traffic. Southbound traffic will continue to be detoured. The contractor will install the remaining storm sewer, reconstruct the east side of the roadway, and install the sidewalk and path.
Phase 5 - The contractor will re-open the roadway to two-lane, two-direction traffic and install the final course of asphalt, permanent pavement markings, and signage.
Your patience throughout this project is appreciated. Please watch for changes in traffic patterns and follow signs accordingly. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences!
Alternate entrance - Stine Road will remain open and people could come up Stine, turn north onto Enon-Xenia and then east onto Rebert Pike to enter the back of the school. Anyone traveling from the east into town can travel west on Rebert Pike and turn into the back entrance of the school as well.
Project Update - January, 2023
The construction project will start on January 16
, the start date was pushed back a week, hence the date discrepancy in the graphic below. During Phase 1 the intersection of Rebert Pike and Enon-Xenia will remain open. The county engineers plan to install barricades on Enon-Xenia immediately south of Rebert Pike.
During Phase 2, the water main near the sidewalk area on the west side of Enon-Xenia in front of the school will be replaced.
Phases 3 and 4 will most likely start after May 31. During these phases, a portion of Enon-Xenia will have one lane of traffic in front of the school for northbound traffic only. The county engineer’s office hopes to have phase 4 complete in early October.
During Phase 5, both lanes of traffic will reopen and the final course of asphalt will be put down.
A few routes will be impacted by this construction project - Bus 25 HS, Bus 27 GES, Bus 8 GES, PK-PM Bus 2/22 mid-day. Our Transportation Director, Elmer Beard, has been working with our bus drivers to make adjustments to impacted routes and timing. Although construction is slated to begin on January 16, you may notice your student’s bus routes making slight adjustments next week as our transportation department works out these changes.
